Amboyna Burl
What kind of grips did cowboys use?
I've now decided that I will get some amboyna burl grips off this website:

Those are the exact grips I want. The problem is, I want the grips to be true to the cowboy theme of the revolver. I can either have the grips with a flat cut bottom like the old colts, or I can have a KRW gunfighter style (Flat cut bottom is obviously flat cut and KRW gunfighter style has slants at the bottom of the grips going outward.) It's all in the description below the picture in the link to the website. Tell me which one says cowboy to you? KRW or Flat cut? I know it may have sounded like I wanted opinions, but I would much rather have historical data of which style grips the cowboys really used.

They had both. The decision as to which was applied to the revolver was more the decision of the maker/manufacturer than the person who would become the final owner. You would be safe in just choosing the style you like best and go for it. It's simply a matter of "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder." and that's you. So go with what feels best. (Or looks best.) To see examples, go to the library and check out the books referring to antique firearms or a history and evolution of the handgun. You'll see plenty of both styles. I like the bevel edged cut myself, but mostly because I have large hands and it is more comfortable for me to fold my little finger over the angle cut than it is to find a place for it on the 90 degree cut.
