What are some good web sites for finding piano teachers near me?
I've used craiglist and piano_chat, and I'm turning up blanks. I've only found one teacher near me so far...the rest are out of my way. Anybody have any resources I can use? Thanks
Try pianoteachers.com . But even that is limited to teachers who have registered with that website. I, personally, have not registered on any websites like this. I am in the Dallas/Fort Worth area, and I advertise in various places. Classifieds on dfw.com has been where I have received most of my students. Best places to look, though, are your local schools. Music teachers in the public schools try to stay aware of who teaches lessons in their area.... and they sometimes know a bit about them (maybe even use them as accompanists).
Here's a recommendation for you though. There is not one place to find a piano teacher that is more reliable than another. There is no way to guarantee that a teacher is good, just because of their advertising. No matter who you call, make an appointment to meet them first. Find out their background (both playing and teaching), their teaching philosophy, their passion, their fees, etc, before you sign up for lessons. Don't be afraid to interview several teachers before deciding on one, either.
