Deep Sockets
Stripped nut in shower stall, what kind of tool can I remove it with?
Trying to remove the packing nut on stem shower faucet & brass nut has been stripped (behind shower tiles), the Deep Socket wont get it, any ideas on tools?
I have duck bill pliers which could probably get it. They are for sale all over the web, but not cheap. I pasted a link below that shows what mine look like.
I suppose there is no rear access to the valve assembly??
If the nut is stripped, does this mean a new nut might not work even if you get the old one out. It might be the threads on the fixture that are stripped.
I got one of those out the following way once: I cut a a piece of conduit about 4 inches long. One with a hole a little smaller than the nut. Then I split the conduit lengthwise with a hack saw and opened the gap so it could fit over the nut. With it over the nut I put the vice grips on the conduit and compressed it tight down on the nut and then gradually threaded it out of the hole.
If that doesn't work maybe a stick of dynamite!! Hope not !!
