I have a Moen Posi-Temp shower faucet (one crank spin to the right temp) that when you spin past the half?
way spot, (to the HOT) the water just shuts off. On the Moen website, it says this is a common installation error, just pop off the faucet handle and adjust something inside. I can't get the handle off. It's held on by what looks like a hex screw, but no Hex Wrench I have (and I have a brand new set I went out and bought just for this, american/metric) will fit properly in it. Is there something that LOOKS like a hex screw I'm unfamiliar with? I'm afraid of breaking it if I keep yanking on it...
From everything I'm seeing, the 1/8 SHOULD work. The problem is, it simply doesn't. I can't unscrew it at all, much less all the way. I can NOT believe I've been messing with a simple hex screw for this many hours, and that a hundreds of dollars shower assembly is being messed up and stopping me with a simple screw.
Join the crowd, they are trying to make things more complicated. Look at your little screw very carefully. I bet you will find it takes almost a square wrench. I was lucky they packed one in my package. I did not see it to start with, and got my allen Wrench Set, but none fit.
A few weeks ago I purchased a set of the square deals, I believe I now have 8 different sizes.
