Pear Wood
There are many types of fruit woods and other woods that are good for smoking meat. Have you ever heard of or?
tried pear wood? Was it good? Do you think it would work? We are about to cut several pear trees and wondered about using the wood for smoking meats.
When I was a chef I used cherry, apple, peach, old grape vines anything that does not contain a resin like pine, cedar or spruce, other like pecan, hickory, mesquite are nice but produce a heavier smoke flavour fruitwoods tend to be milder, even just branches of the tree is fine, but if you prune a tree keep the limbs for that purpose, they also tend to burn quicker and ry wood is best but not to dry.
