Is there a way to get a desk open that has the key broken off in it?
My cubicle at work has a desk that locks and my key broke off in it, it's taking maintenence forever to fix it and I have things in it I really need. My different co workers have suggested using a strong magnet and we have tried using fine tools like pliers and Needle Nose tweezers to try and grip the broken key but to no avail. I am at my wits end and tempted to try a crowbar which I don't know where I will get one but just frustrated. Any suggestions folks?
If the key is still in the lock and has all of the cuts inside you should be able to turn it with and screwdriver. If some of the cuts on the key broke off with the part you still had in your hand find a woodworker. If the have a spiral Scroll Saw blade snip the fastener on one end and insert it above the key. Press towards the thickest part of the key and gently pull out until you have enough out to grab with pliers. The Spiral Saw blade has teeth all around it and has all ways worked for me.
