Why would the seeds in my Jiffy 12 greenhouse turn to mush?
I planted several 'specialty' seeds, ie luffa gourd, birdhouse gourd... in brand new Jiffy 12 greenhouses. I followed the instructions exactly, placed the greenhouses on top of my fridge, as usual, but all these seeds turned to mush! They also got a white thready mold on the tops of the pellets. Other specialty seeds came up fine in my old greenhouses with replacement Jiffy pellets...
Way too much moisture and heat. Gourds do pretty well in heat and sun. I'd guess that your old greenhouse was a little drafty or not as airtight as you thought.
