Sears Craftsman riding lawn mower oil change?

<p>I have a 18 HP Briggs and Stratton  in it. The manual says 3.5 pints (56oz) with filter. When I do that, it is way over filled even after running some. Anyone have the same experience ? 42 ozs works best for me.
